Get Involved In a Good Cause

Since losing my job, times have been a bit harder. I’ve had to make some cutbacks, and give up a few “luxuries”. But, I haven’t gone without food. Others have not been so fortunate. Every day, people go hungry, even in our own neighborhoods. I have decided to do something to help. I can’t do a lot, but I can do something. Check out this video, and then visit the North Texas Food Bank to find out how you can get involved. ...<< MORE >>

I Should Have Been a Criminal

Larry Huch has an incredible story of coming from a life of drugs and crime, overcoming great odds to become one of the leading men of God in America today. Yes, he had it tough. But, I think I had it tougher. You see, I was raised in church. Throughout my 50+ years on this earth, I have been a member of several churches. I’ve been Baptist, Methodist, Non-Denominational, Church of God, Pentecostal, and Charismatic. I even tried Catholic once. And, I’m sorry to say, I have seen some of the meanest, most vicious attacks carried out in every ...<< MORE >>

The Miracle of Chanukah

Wednesday, December 1, marks the beginning of the 8 days of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights. Beginning at sunset on Wednesday, the menorah to the left will be updated daily to illustrate the daily lighting of the candles. I am still learning about this season, so I will leave the teaching to Pastor Larry Huch for now. Tune in at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening to watch Pastor Huch explain this season and the significance it holds for Christian and Jew alike. You can watch live on the DFW New Beginnings website. Tune in. ...<< MORE >>

Life Lessons From the Three Little Pigs

It may seem strange for me to be talking about pigs. After all, I am in the process of learning the Jewish roots of Christianity, and I’m also exploring the practice of eating kosher. However, I believe there are some lessons that all of us can learn from this age old children’s story. This was first brought to my attention by Pastor Gabriel Galan of DFW New Beginnings church. I know the story of the three little pigs, but I’ve never really thought about it in any depth. It was just a story for kids. Now, I’m wondering about ...<< MORE >>

Modeh Ani and the Rudder Effect

Sometimes, before I head off to work in the morning, I post the words “Adonai modeh ani” on my Facebook profile, and I’ve been asked several times what this means. Well, I’m still learning new things about the Jewish roots of the Christian faith from Pastor Larry Huch at DFW New Beginnings Church, down here in beautiful Irving, Texas. Modeh Ani (mo-day’ ah-knee’) is one that is really changing my life. A recent government study has revealed the “Rudder Effect”, which basically states that what you do during the first 10 minutes of your day determines the direction for ...<< MORE >>

Why do Christians pray to so many gods?

“Why do Christians pray to so many gods?” At first, I thought this to be a totally ridiculous question. Ask any Christian, and we’ll tell you there is only one God. Everybody knows that. So, why would anyone ask such a question? This question was first asked of me by a Jewish man. You see, the entire basis of the Jewish faith can be found here: Deut 6:4 - 5  “Hear, O Israel. The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with ...<< MORE >>

Independence

The 4th of July. Independence Day. America’s birthday. This is the time of year that we Americans celebrate the birth of the greatest nation on earth. The United States of America may have problems, and there may be a lot of things that are wrong. We may have unfair laws, and unfair demands placed upon our citizens. However, she is still the greatest nation on earth. I would love to visit Israel someday, but I don’t want to live in any other country. The good old USA is my home, and I love her. I pray that God will ...<< MORE >>

Happy Chanukah

My wife and I have recently been learning about the holiday of Chanukah., and about the significance of the menorah. Last Sunday, we heard an awesome message on this subject by Rabbi Daniel Lapin (President of the American Alliance of Jews and Christians). This man is an absolute God send when it comes to explaining the meanings behind the Jewish customs, and how they are important to us as Christians today. I recommend that everyone interested in serving the one true God gets a copy of this message (Please contact DFW New  Beginnings church to get your ...<< MORE >>
